"Learning to Fly" A year long project that intersected the lives of developmentally disabled adults and at-risk youth in a project where they developed an artistic concept, created individual glass blocks during their conversations together about where they live and the important people in their lives, and fabricating the final artwork under the guidance of Lonnie Feather. The artist managed the entire project, developed budget and timelines, building sandblasting equipment for wheelchair accessibility, created structure and intent for artistic concept, led creative workshops for participants and oversaw fabrication and installation. Through the sale of individual sandcarved glass blocks, this project raised funds to support Port City Development Center programs.
