Chinook Bend, Carnation WA 2010

Betsy Damon, Lead Artist; Assistant/Fabrication by Lonnie Feather

"Water Revealed" In a 58 acre natural wetlands area next to the Snoqualmie River in Carnation, WA, Betsy Damon was inspired to design artwork that celebrates the beauty and power of the water flowing through the site. Three sculptures sit in the environment: a 14 foot diameter granite compass in the image of a "living water drop" with deep, blue-green cast glass inserts indicating north, south, east and west; a 24 foot pole to measure flood waters composed of six granite beads and six cast glass beads -- ranging in brilliant sunrise colors of deep red to gold/yellow topped with a raptor roost; and glacial boulder sitting places etched with images and the words 'Reveal', 'Restore' and 'Revere'.

Lonnie Feather assisted Betsy Damon in all aspects of this project including participation in the concept phase, fabrication of stone sculptures and creating the glasswork.
